edifícios existentes existing buildingsdescrição. A presente tese dissertação centra-se no estudo e análise de áreas industriais desactivadas que remanescem na malha urbana da Cidade de Lisboa. No panorama do aparecimento de unidades / áreas industriais, aquando da Revolução Industrial, e, com o decorrer do tempo, estas tornaram-se estruturas obsoletas face às exigências que estavam implícitas ao desenvolvimento tecnológico.
No caso particular de Lisboa, várias são as áreas industriais que foram desactivadas e, consequentemente, abandonadas, tornando-se, assim, inconsequências urbanas. O caso – estudo – Companhia de Fiação e Tecidos Lisbonense, actual, LX Factory – situa-se na freguesia de Alcântara.
É intuito desta análise perceber o contexto histórico que enquadra esta zona no complexo urbano e, simultaneamente, compreender de que forma uma intervenção arquitectónica pode, não só, garantir e preservar as memórias colectivas presentes no local mas, igualmente, reintroduzir esta unidade industrial no contexto social e urbano da cidade. Não assumindo uma atitude dogmática, a proposta aqui apresentada é uma das muitas soluções que podiam ser aplicadas nesta área, procurando sempre responder à permissa inicial: De que forma a estrutura urbana criada pela Companhia de Fiação e Tecidos Lisbonenses, em Alcântara, pode reintegrar novamente o contexto urbano e social da cidade de Lisboa, através de uma intervenção arquitectónica que garanta a preservação da memória do lugar?

description. The present Master Dissertation is focused on the study and analysis of old / post industrial sites which are left off, regarding the context of the urban network of Lisbon. With the Industrial Revolution, many industrial areas were built, and, with the natural development of technologies, those areas became obsolete regarding the demands of the evolution which was happening.
In the particular case of Lisbon, there are many industrial areas which were deactivated, abandoned and neglected becoming, themselves, an urban inconsequence. The case study – Companhia de Fiação e Tecidos Lisbonense, nowadays known as LX factory – is placed in the river front neighborhood of Alcântara.
It is intended to analyze and to understand not only the Historical background contextualizing it with the urban sense but also how an architectonic intervention could preserve the collective memories and to replace these industrial areas in the urban context. Avoiding a dogmatic attitude, the presented proposal is one of the many solution which could be achieved in this area. In fact, was always present the rule and starting question: In which way the urban strcuture created by the Companhia de Fiação e Tecidos Lisbonense, in Alcântara, can be restored in the Lisbon urban and social context troguh an architectonic intervention which preserves the site memory?
